You may recall that a few weeks ago, during my first week of P90X3, I was pretty disappointed. The majority of the opening workouts are lackluster and, though certain moves are really hard, I felt that the workouts overall are not hard enough. My trusty PPKers told me that Beachbody considers X3 to be a precursor, and therefore easier, than P90X, which is in turn a precursor/easier than P90X2. If this is true, I’m quite peeved that this wasn't made clear, because I would have been tempted to get X2. Does anyone have experience with it?
If you can't tell by the title of this post, I'm a bit peeved. Tony Horton has gone even crazier than he was before.
After hearing that “bum-ba-bum-ba-bum-bum BEACHBODY” title ditty nearly every day for the last five years, I was/am excited to try the fitness empire’s newest offering: P90X3. It will be very trying to give up my favorite workout, Insanity!, for 3 months, but I am curious to see if X3 really can provide the power plays of the original P90X in half the time. (God those P90X strength hours were boooooring. Thank goodness for Bobby Stevenson and Daniel Haas. And, of course, Pam the Blam, who I want to be president.) I decided to review X3 here to keep me motivated. In doing the newest X workout, I hope that 1) I will be able to do all kinds of creative pull-ups by the end, and many of them, and 2) I’ll restart Insanity! for the bazillionth time after finishing and do better than ever. (I’ll review that one too, when we get there.)
Hi everyone! I'm going to be away for about a week (unless I am able to blog on the road!), but in the meantime I have a request for you. My next TV-related posts (to appear concurrently with Veganizing "Friends" and others) will be a Barney Stinson-inspired "Challenge Accepted" series!
You guys. How much fun did we have this MoFo?? I am so glad I participated (my first one!) and I can't wait until next year's. I am so proud that I made my goal of posting at least once every day. While I covered travel, entertainment, style, randos, and restaurant treats, I think we can all agree that the best posts were in my Veganizing "Friends" series.
Although I made a plan at the start, I didn't adhere to it exactly. Although I stuck to my Travel Tuesdays, there was just too much "Friends" fodder to work with for me to continue baking other things on Sundays, or talking about events on Thursdays. "Friends" is like the gift that keeps on giving; I couldn't refuse! Let's look back at what we covered this past month!
Today, I have to take a break from my usual blogging topics, because my brain cannot focus on anything except what in the everlasting tuck is happening to this country. We're all probably aware that terrible awful no good things happen every day, in every place all over the world, but the shit happening in the USA lately is mind-bogglingly horrible, and made even more horrible because it is preventable. I'm talking partly about the lack of gun control, and partly about the outrageous amounts of power given to those that carry the guns, especially police officers (and those who fancy themselves police officers, like George Zimmerman). The tragedy of Trayvon Martin, an innocent young boy whose death proved that racism and injustice are alive and well in America, raised a lot of necessary outrage and garnered extensive media coverage. But like all other tragedies, the populace quickly forgets and the outrage subsides, and nothing changes. We can’t let that happen. This shit has to stop.
I learned the news making my blood boil today when I clicked on the New York Times website as I do daily. I wasn’t expecting to read about puppies and rainbows, but I didn’t expect this either. The news is, last night two police officers shot two people in Times Square. IN FUCKING TIMES SQUARE, the most crowded place in the entire universe. Stuffed to the brim with tourists, children, people who don’t understand English, people from countries that don’t have heavily armed cops, &c.

How to qualify:
VeganMofo is only 3 days away!!! That's right, this year the Vegan Month of Food is taking place in September. I'm so excited to participate in my first Mofo!
If you aren't familiar with Mofo, read about it on the official blog! You'll also find a list of all participants there. VeganMofo is a fun yet challenging, well, challenge to blog every day (or at least most days) of the month! So, check out Laughfrodisiac throughout September for posts with the following themes:
MONDAY: On Mondays, we will veganize things that Monica (Courteney Cox) made on 'Friends'!! I think I'm most excited to make the infamous English Trifle/Shepherd's Pie disaster. (I know Rachel made that, but it counts.) So much fun!
TUESDAY: On Tuesdays, we will get new travel guides for locations all over the globe! If you plan to go anywhere ever, this information will save you! Like the bahble!
WEDNESDAY: On Wednesdays, we will play Restaurant Wars! New restaurant reviews will be posted -- including the review for one of top 10 restaurants in the world. You're going to want to read that one!
THURSDAY: On Thursdays, we will review special meals for holidays occurring in September, as well as discuss other big events (like weddings!).
FRIDAY: On Fridays, we will return to "Friends" and make some more fun things!
SATURDAY: On Saturdays, we will get a mix of style blogs and entertainment blogs, from theatre reviews to ravings about TV shows that are soon returning!
SUNDAY: Finally, on Sundays, we will bake breakfast foods! From muffins to my special protein-packed energy bars, these blogs will be delicious!
I might also throw in second posts on certain days, about random things that come to my attention!
So, there you have it! I'm mainly posting this in advance in order to hold myself accountable to what I've outlined here. Help keep me to it, and I hope you enjoy all of VeganMofo!
